Stock market investing or investing in equites generally refers to the buying and holding of shares of stock on a stock market by individuals and firms in anticipation of receiving income from dividends and capital gains. By investing in stocks, one is purchasing shares in a publicly traded business. Like all investing, it involves risk and reward. The greater the risk, the greater the reward but also the greater the risk of loss.
Investing in equities is generally a core investment allocation for our clients and can range from domestic to international investments. It can also include shares in large, mid to small capitalization publicly traded business. The “minimum” time period we recommend for investing in stock market varies but generally ranges from three to five years.
